Khaleel Khursheed Ahmed, a name that was recently added to the Indian cricket team list for Asia Cup this season.
At the age of 20, he already earned a place for himself in the age group cricket as well as the domestic circuit. He has the pace, and over the last two seasons has been working on swinging the ball both ways.
The only new face in the list of names announced by the Indian team for the Asia Cup that was announced earlier this month was Khaleel Ahmed. A left-arm fast bowler from a village called Tonk (Rajasthan). He was also a part of the India Under-19 side for the World Cup in Bangladesh in 2016.
At the T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he caught everyone’s eyes by taking 17 wickets in ten games at the rate of 6.76 runs per over. He was then picked for the India A-list squad for the tour of England in 2018, where he took eight wickets in five limited-overs games. He spent a lot of time under Zaheer Khan who helped him with his bowling and wrist position.
Later Khaleel was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the auction in 2018, for Rs 3 crores. After playing one match for them in the season, he continued to be mentored under Dravid since he was bagged by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 10 lakhs in the 2016 IPL auction. Khaleel has taken 28 wickets in the 17 List A matches and is also known for easily pushing away the batsmen.
Looking at the rate at which he growing as a player, we are hoping to see Khaleel Ahmed at the 2019 World Cup. Till then let’s keep our fingers crossed!
