As we all know, the Asia Cup 2018 which is scheduled to be held in UAE has already begun. It’s a six-team tournament and the sixth team will be the winner of the Asia Cup qualifiers which will be held in Malaysia. While we are really excited about this prestigious event, let us go back and rewind a bit.
The number of Asia Cups played till date is 13, in which India won 6 titles.
In the year 2016, the tournament was played in a T20 format first time. After 2014, the 50 overs format was switched to a new format in which it was alternately rotated between ODI & T20.
Out of all the teams, Sri Lanka is the only team to play in all the 13 editions of the tournament.
Bangladesh has hosted 5 Asia Cups till now which is the maximum number of times.
Sanath Jayasuriya has scored 6 centuries in the tournament, which makes him the highest century scorer.
Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) bagged 36 dismissals (27 caught and 9 stumpings) under his belt, which is the most by a wicket-keeper.
